ENPP ยท The Hardbat Revival
The original
spirit of
table tennis.
Hardbat is more than an old style of playing. It is a way to rediscover the foundations of table tennis โ control, placement, timing and the joy of the rally.

Back to the basics
What is Hardbat?
Hardbat brings table tennis back to a simpler, more direct style of play โ where timing, placement, control and rallying take centre stage.
Traditional Equipment
Classic hardbat play uses a rigid wooden blade with a hard, relatively low-impact playing surface rather than modern sponge-based technology.
Skill Over Spin
With less opportunity to generate extreme spin through the racket, placement, timing, touch and reading your opponent become much more important.
Longer Rallies
The style encourages rallies that are easier to follow and brings the contest between two players back to the heart of the game.
"Less technology between you and the ball.
More table tennis between two players."
The ENPP Hardbat Philosophy
Two ways to experience the game
Hardbat vs Modern
The table is the same. The ball is the same.
The way you experience the rally can be very different.
The classic way
HARDBAT
A more direct relationship between player, racket and ball. With traditional hardbat equipment, the emphasis shifts toward timing, placement and control.
Placement
Find the open space.
Timing
Read the ball and meet it well.
Rally
Build the point together.
The modern game
MODERN TABLE TENNIS
Modern equipment gives players powerful tools for generating speed and spin, creating a fast and highly technical game.
Spin
Create and counter heavy rotation.
Speed
Attack with pace and acceleration.
Power
Use modern equipment to maximise attack.
Hardbat isn't about replacing modern table tennis. It's about rediscovering another way to play.
